George Victor oversees the firm’s A&A practice and is the Director of Quality Control. He is responsible for formulating the firm’s accounting and auditing policies, monitoring compliance with professional regulatory standards, technical research, review of completed engagements, and oversight of the firm’s professional education program. He is also involved in implementing new accounting and auditing standards within the firm and in providing guidance on audit, accounting and financial reporting issues. Mr. Victor has extensive experience in providing accounting and advisory services to both privately held and SEC reporting companies, and has consulted CPA firms in the U.S. and abroad on areas of quality control, U.S. GAAP, and International Financial Reporting Standards. He also functions as the firm’s liaison for speaker participation in conferences and technical sessions, and as the primary contact for being quoted in the media on accounting and auditing developments. Prior to joining GS&Co. he was a quality control partner with Holtz Rubenstein Reminick LLP (now Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP).
Professional and Community Involvement
An active participant in professional organizations, George is a member of the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) and the New York State Society of CPAs (NYSSCPA), where he served as a member of the NYSSCPA Board of Directors, the NYSSCPA Governing Audit Committee, and currently serves on the Editorial Review Board of The CPA Journal, International Accounting & Auditing Committee, and Auditing Standards Committee. He is a past chair of the Accounting & Auditing Oversight Committee, and SEC Practice Committee, and has served as Conference Chair for numerous annual conferences. George is an Adjunct Professor at the City University of New York at York College. He frequently lectures before professional groups on accounting and auditing related topics, and is published in various professional journals and periodicals.
George holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from St. John’s University, with honors.
